It’s great to see the community benefits of the Burrenbring BESS project taking shape.

Iberdrola recently signed a Community Benefit Agreement with Isaac Regional Council under Queensland’s new renewable energy framework, for their 1000 MW / 2000 MWh Burrenbring BESS project.

Attexo’s Social Performance team was proud to support Iberdrola by undertaking the Social Impact Assessment (SIA) for the project. Our work focused on understanding how the development could affect the local community — identifying potential positive and negative social impacts, engaging with local stakeholders, and considering the issues and opportunities that matter most to the people and communities in the project area.

The SIA helped Iberdrola understand the project’s potential social impacts and opportunities, and identified ways these could be managed, enhanced and addressed.

The assessment also helped inform the development of the Community Benefit Agreement, which connected the findings of the SIA with tangible initiatives and outcomes designed to deliver lasting value for the local community.

We’re pleased to have supported Iberdrola through this process.
